Minimize water softener runs
If you have a water softener yours is most likely - as the majority - based on salt for regeneration. Most of the salt gets flushed into the environment, where the cloride impacts freshwater and with it its organisms. In 1994 (pretty old data ...) Americans purchased around 2.6 million tons of salt for use in water softeners. Guess where it all ends :(
