ysmad Green Tip:
Make your own detergents
Make your own detergents, which use less harmful ingredients than common commercial products. Although respective companies wouldn't say so, they work just as good. E.g. for descaling your kettle, heat a mixture of water and lemon juice in the kettle and let it stand overnight; or even better: if you have remains of squeezed lemons, heat them with water in the kettle. Do this any time you have lemon peel left over - you'll not only have a cleaner kettle, but you will also save a little bit of electricity, as the heating will be more efficient.
Another tip we heared (but did not test yet): instead of regular window cleaners, which often contain ammonia, clean with mild soap and water and rinse windows with a mixture of water and vinegar (4:1).
