Avoid one-time plastic articles like plastic bags and plastic dishes
Plastic is a relatively new invention - around 50 years old. But already we have tons and tons abandoned waste in the Pacific (look up "Great Pacific Garbage Patch" in Wikipedia), causing death for sea life (confusing plastic bags with jellyfish or getting strangled in sixpack rings). And yet we know little what impact it will have in the future - in form of particles in the ocean and subsequent food chain. Even if you recycle plastics - already its production and transport will have caused waste products ended up somewhere. To what we know more than a cloth bag or your porcelain plate and silverware. Avoid one-time plastic articles like plastic bags and plastic dishes.
