ysmad Green Tip:
Keep your tires properly inflated
"Keeping tires properly inflated can improve your gas mileage by more than 3 percent."
"Every gallon of gas you save keeps 20 pounds of CO2 out of the atmosphere."
This I got from the "Planet Earth" calendar 2009 (09/25). Not sure where these numbers are taken from, but there is no doubt this little attentiveness does save some oil being burned. The benefit cannot be so small as the effort for checking your tire pressure now and then is.
Now there might be some conservative voices (e.g. read on "freerepublic.com"), which like to ridicule this suggestion - e.g. from Barack Obama in the elections 2008. These were the same people who were complaining about high gas prices and voted for drilling offshore. With all likelihood - checking your tire's pressure will help you save more money than a "drill baby drill" call (please klick on the link for our blog entry of 10/2008).
