I mentioned before that we highly recommend chapter "Polymers are forever" in the book "The world without us". Last week I found this here in the news: the plastic waste found inside an albatross chick 
, with which its mother - or we - mistakenly fed it. Wasn't the last blog post's title "We feed the world" - fits here as well.
